Tutoring for the SSAT
Welcome to the Ivy Bound Program. We look forward to
helping maximize your scores. We know that few students are “eager” to take an
SSAT Prep course, but most teens know the importance of this one test, and how a
few hours of diligent study each week really pay off.
Last year’s students reported over 170 point average improvements on the
SAT. For SSAT, we utilize many of
the same materials that have brought success on the SAT.
Our SAT tutors have trained with Ivy Bound to
become masters at helping students apply every strategy we know for success in
both the SSAT and SAT. Our minimum
instructor standard is a 1500, representing the top 1 percentile of SAT scores.
Beyond that, you will find our instructors possess a high level of
energy, clarity, and empathy. We
keep sharp by taking the SAT once a year ourselves.
We license all available SSAT and ERB materials for students to use as
practice tests.
Private tutoring allows you to have an
instructor tailoring the curriculum to your needs, which means no time is spent
on what OTHERS want - all the teacher time is devoted to YOU.
Successful improvement requires home study time – we recommend two to
three hours between sessions to reinforce the skills we teach, plus 10 minutes a
day drilling vocabulary.
To reinforce their learning, all IVY BOUND
students are invited to join us for statewide conference calls one week before
the test, and all students will receive e-mails to help build their vocabularies
and reinforce their skills.
As you are probably well aware, the SSAT is for
most students the single most important test for admission to prep schools of
their choice. With the competition to top prep schools even more fierce, the
SSAT has become a greater determinant of admissions and scholarship
decisions than ever before. We view
this as an opportunity for any student willing to bring an open mind and a
willingness to achieve.
