Ivy Bound offers private tutoring for the SAT as well as for non-SAT, academic subjects.
Private and Semi-Private SAT Tutoring
Private tutoring usually takes place at your home, although we are happy to meet at schools or libraries, if you prefer, on a mutually agreeable schedule. Whether a student needs only verbal or only math help, or a full SAT I course, we are eager to help with one-on-one attention to your child's needs. Private tutoring allows three things that a class does not:
- Direct oversight - the tutor can monitor the student's progress at all times.
- Scheduling preference - the tutor can meet at your convenience
- Tailoring - during a lesson, and within the course as a whole, the tutor can adjust to the student's individual needs.
Semi-private tutoring is an economical alternative. If you are in a position to put together a small group of students who'd be interested in taking an Ivy Bound course together, we would be delighted to bring Ivy Bound to you! In many cases, two or three students have joined to take advantage of the course, thus substantially reducing the cost of private tutoring because the hourly rate of the instructor is split evenly among the families involved. If your son or daughter has friends who are at a similar academic level, and are as diligent as your child, this semi-private tutoring option presents a great way to maximize your results while keeping your costs low. Ivy Bound also offers SAT prep classes in most areas. Where we don't have an established class, but do have a teacher, we are happy to work with parents to set up a class. If parents are able to generate interest and enrollment among families in their area, we are eager to provide the right instructor, materials, and other resources to make the class a success. Academic Tutoring
Thank you for your interest in Ivy Bound. We are proud to bring exceptionally qualified tutors to students and families looking to find extra help with rigorous school coursework, or preparation for one important test. Our instructors range from current university students to seasoned teaching professionals. All have a passion for helping students overcome academic struggles.
Note that if you can determine the textbook(s) your child will be using next year, we may be able to tailor the work to that curriculum.
Our tutors are available at rates of $50/hr - $150/hr. The price depends upon their experience level and your location. You can set the dates with them to come to your home, to school, or to a library for a 90-minute or 2-hour session.
There is a one-time Enlistment charge of $150 to Ivy Bound ($90 for engagements of less than 1 month). That is all we require up front. The rest is billed at the end of each month.
