Dennis Schulman

Soon after graduating I moved to California and passed the California Bar Exam. I discovered that my passion was working with young people and went into teaching full time. Over the years in California, I taught math at all levels from elementary through junior college. I have worked in private schools, public schools and have tutored small groups and one-on-one. I have also been involved in professional development for middle school teachers in the area of mental mathematics. I have been a presenter at math conferences in Northern and Southern California. In 1985 I began offering SAT preparation classes and tutoring. I offer techniques in math so that even average and below average math students can be successful on difficult SAT questions. I also have a lot of experience in preparing students for the verbal portion of the SAT. Along with SAT prep I have worked with students for many other exams including ACT, GRE, teacher exams, nursing, real estate, engineering and others. My teaching style is energetic, enthusiastic and fun. I try to instill in my students confidence and a positive attitude, as well as supplying them with techniques that can really boost their scores. I was very happy to connect with Ivy Bound, where I found a commitment to hiring well-qualified instructors, which I did not find in other prep companies. I believe that the most important component in any educational experience is the teacher, and his or her ability to communicate in an interesting and easily understandable manner.
