ABOUT Abby Scott

I grew up in a small mountain town in Colorado and attended a public high school where we had a single college counselor for 350 kids. Today, I attend Williams College, am a recipient of the Coca Cola National Scholarship (less than 1% acceptance) and a finalist for the Elk's Club National Scholarship. I know, that in large part, this is due to the wonderful tutors I had in high school and hope to be able to do the same for my students. I'm particularly passionate about teaching U.S. History, AP Language, AP Literature, as I adored those subjects in high school.

Williams College Williamstown

  • Major: Political Science and American Studies
  • Degree: Liberal arts, bachelors.
  • I’m an American Studies (AMST) and Political Science (PCSI) double major, with a concentration on Indigenous
North American sovereignty. Having the opportunity to dive deeply into AMST classes like Material Cultures of
North America alongside PSCI classes such as Power Politics & Democracy has allowed me to understand how my
background in politics offers unique perspectives on tribal sovereignty, past and present. This knowledge,
combined with a background in grassroots lobbying at the Colorado Capital has led me to be involved in
Indigenous activism, youth drug and alcohol legislative reform, the 1945 Fellowship, Colorado aerospace lobbying, testifying on various
Colorado state bills, and the passage of Colorado state bill creating Children’s History Week.

As a kid I always got in trouble for reading under the covers, as a young adult I got in trouble for reading the newspaper at the breakfast table. Today I'm a passionate lover of literature an political science (and I still get in trouble for both these things when I come home for college). I'm also collegiate runner (with a love for mountain running), part time twin-sister to another tutor (be a sibling is to exhausting to do full time!), mock trial defense attorney, and am currently taking the semester of to work for the Office of Alternate Defense in Denver, CO.
