I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1986 with a B.S. degree in physics, and a minor in math. For the most of the time since I have been tutoring high school and college students in these fields of study. When I was in college I found that I really liked explaining to fellow undergrads how to do problems in calculus and physics. After briefly dabbling in physics in grad school, I realized that I could make a living tutoring, since there never seemed to be a shortage of folks needing help in math. There was a hiatus from tutoring when I tried my hand at Wall Street, but I missed being involved in math education too much to stay in the stressful financial world for long.

Though my strengths lie on the quantitative side, I also love literature (I took lots of English courses in college). In fact, the last time I took the SAT my verbal score was 750. I have had occasion to help some SAT students improve their reading comprehension when we weren’t handling math questions. But my biggest strength is in teaching how to solve problems, whether they be in academic math classes, the SAT, GRE, ACT, Praxis, or other exams.

When I’m not involved in academic pursuits I’m probably playing basketball, softball, running, or rooting for the Red Sox and Celtics. Living in New Haven gives me the opportunity to enjoy the many cultural offerings at Yale, especially in their diverse school of music.
