High School Resources

Teens are often more attentive learning with a tutor than learning from Mom or Dad. Ambitious teens often find high level academic help is beyond their parents’ capabilities.

Following a tutor’s guidance almost always leads to better grades and more class comfort. Ivy Bound’s “wheelhouse” is helping high school students excel. We do this for academics, for semi-academic endeavors, and for Test Prep.

For Academics

Ivy Bound tutors come to the school or come to the home for extra help. You can enlist Ivy Bound for after school, evenings, or weekends. It can be one-on-one, or with a friend. (With semi-private sessions, the families split the tutoring cost).

Ivy Bound tutors and high school resources are especially effective helping you preview a daunting course. We do this prior to each semester, allowing you to then view the work a second time when the chapter materials are addressed in the course.

Students taking AP Courses can get a preview in:

  • AP Biology

  • AP Chemistry

  • AP Physics

  • AP Computer Science

  • AP Environmental Science

  • AP Calculus

  • AP European History

  • AP Government

  • AP U.S. History

  • AP World History

  • AP English

  • AP Languages

Ivy Bound’s tutors will work with your school teacher if you wish, but can also keep the work and the meetings confidential.

For Semi-Academics

Ivy Bound currently offers individual and group help in Latin, Public Speaking, Entrepreneurship, and Speedy Reading.

Speedy Reading is especially good for students who have burgeoning assignments. We help you double (at least) your speed, while keeping your comprehension. These skills will help you excel in school and have you get to sleep earlier.

For students who are now taking college level courses, Ivy Bound reinforces critical skills like writing stronger papers, boosting reading comprehension, absorbing vocabulary from text, taking clear notes, and excelling on tests and exams.

For Test Prep

Ivy Bound's SAT /ACT prep is almost sure to propel you to college admission success.  Our diligent students report average SAT improvements exceeding 140 points (based on the 2016 - 2023 SAT) and average ACT improvements exceeding 14 section-points (3.6 composite points).  Students seeking merit-based scholarships report on average nearly $125,000 in 4-year awards for the years 2021-2023.

Few high schools “teach to the test” well. We do. Ivy Bound teaches to the SAT and ACT unabashedly — for some students, these are the most important tests in their school lives. For many of your parents, the scholarships earned from a high SAT or ACT score make a huge financial difference.
