Greenwich SSAT Prep — Upper Level

$475.00

Upper Level SSAT preparation for faster, more controlled decisions

This six-class course prepares students in grades 8–11 for the Upper Level SSAT. Mark Greenstein teaches the more advanced math, vocabulary, reading, writing, pacing, and question-triage skills expected at this level—separately from the Middle Level course.

Classes meet in person in Greenwich, Connecticut, on Mondays from 7:15–8:45 PM. Tuition is $475 per student and includes six 90-minute classes / nine total instructional hours.

What your student will work on

Students practice algebraic equations, exponents, proportions, coordinate concepts, geometry, patterns, data interpretation, estimation, backsolving, and denser multi-step problems. Verbal work emphasizes advanced vocabulary, nuanced synonym distinctions, abstract analogies, roots, and efficient elimination. Reading instruction covers argument structure, author attitude, tone, purpose, inference, and selecting the answer best supported by the passage. Students also build a practical writing-sample plan.

What is included

The course includes level-specific instruction, guided practice, timed work, pacing checkpoints, error analysis, and a final priority plan for the target test. Students practice balancing accuracy with speed, triaging difficult questions, maintaining focus across timed sections, and recovering after a challenging item or passage.

Six-class course arc

The sequence moves from test structure and baseline habits to quantitative methods, verbal reasoning, reading and writing, timed application, and final test-day rehearsal. The exact mix may adjust to the needs of the class while preserving the complete nine-hour program.

Instructor

Mark Greenstein has taught test preparation since 1987 and founded Ivy Bound in 2000. The SSAT is his favorite K–12 course to teach. He helps students make stronger decisions under time by showing how questions are built and why plausible wrong answers attract test takers.
